Here are the benefits of the menstrual cup
28-01-2021Have you ever thought about the impact pads and tampons have on the environment? You can help make a big difference simply by replacing your disposable period products with a healthier and sustainable menstrual cup. We will go more into detail about what the difference is here.
A greener alternative
Did you know that the amount of time it takes for a tampon or pad to degrade in a landfill is centuries longer than the lifespan of the person who used it – particularly when wrapped in plastic.
Unlike disposable period products, OrganiCup can be reused for years and therefore has a minimal impact on the environment compared to tampons and pads.
The average user throws away an astonishing 125 to 150kg of tampons, pads and applicators in their lifetime. The lifespan of the cup means potentially saving the environment of the packaging and material waste of more than 2400 pads or tampons per user. To put that into context, one OrganiCup will save the environment for one truckload of waste in 10 years for every single person who switches to a cup.
Be kind to your body
If not for the environment, then you may want to consider switching to a menstrual cup for your health. Many pads and tampons contain chemicals such as dioxin, chlorine and rayon, which we don’t think should get anywhere near the most sensitive area on our body.
OrganiCup is made from 100% medical grade silicone, a material that is bio-compatible and doesn’t contain any harmful substances. This means no BPA, no latex and no dye. Another difference between a menstrual cup and a tampon is that the menstrual cup collects the blood instead of absorbing it. This means that you won’t experience any dryness or irritation and your pH balance will not be affected. OrganiCup holds up to 3 tampons worth and can be worn for up to 12 hours. This means you can enjoy a worry-free period during the day. And night.
How to use OrganiCup
Trying something new can be scary, but we can assure you that there is nothing to worry about… Just fold and insert the cup, use it for up to 12 hours, take it out, empty, wash and reinsert. It can contain 3 times as much as pads and tampons. This means that most people only have to empty it morning and evening. If inserted correctly, you will not notice it at all.
